Welcome to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a congregation of the NJ Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are a diverse community of faith whose purpose and mission extends beyond our walls and worship together by living out our Christian faith, serving others and accepting the Bible as the inspired Word of God.
Perhaps you are new to the area, have been away from church for a time, or are looking for a new church home. Whatever your reason, we invite you to join us for worship, education, and fellowship.
Good Shepherd is a community of faith whose care for one another extends well beyond our Sunday worship together. Our members come from a variety of faith traditions and backgrounds, bound by our common bond in Jesus Christ. Our friendly atmosphere creates a true feeling of family. Come, visit, see what we are all about and we are sure you’ll feel you belong.
As Lutherans we hold true to the basic principles of Martin Luther’s theological teachings.
At Good Shepherd we believe:
In the triune God – God, the Father; Jesus, the Son; and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God created all things.
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who took on human flesh to live among us so that we could know that God shared the human experience. Jesus was crucified on a cross, died, was buried and rose from the dead. We believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead to triumph over death and evil. In so doing, He saves all who believe and ask for God’s forgiveness, from eternal death and bring us to eternal life with God in heaven.
We believe that God is present among us daily, working through the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions.
We believe that the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are means through which God’s gifts of grace and forgiveness are received
We believe we are saved by the grace of God alone — not by anything we do; not in our achievements. This forgiveness and new life is given freely through God’s grace in response to our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. None of this is a result of our doing or accomplishments.
As of May 5, 2019 we have a new Pastor. Pastor Beau Nelson will be shared between St. Mark in Morristown and Good Shepherd. In order to allow him to preach at both churches on Sunday morning we have moved our church service back 1 hour to 11:00 AM.
